ILC Tas believes that the right equipment and information can make life easier everyday.
It is good that businesses, government and councils are trying to make changes to allow all people access. We see ramps and hand rails being put in and markers to show where doors are. We thank those organisations for making changes that help people.
We also see ramps that are too steep, door handles that are too high or hard to use. We even see ramps with steps and other mistakes. These places did not get the right information.
These photos are real. Please send us your photos of places that did not get their access right.
This ramp has a 10cm step to the footpath.

Launceston Airport
Launceston Airport has tactile ground surface indicators leading from the car park across the road to the terminal. This is a very good indication of the proper layout for these indicators.

Unfortunately at the terminal the indicators lead into the solid part of the electronic doors, so that you walk into the door instead of through the doorway.

We are pleased to note that Launceston Airport is currently in the process of redeveloping the airport. We have been assured that the indicators will be placed correctly for the new entrances.
Centreway Arcade, Launceston
This is the only part of the Centreway Arcade that does not have access. The problem with this is that the floor of the arcade leading to this exit slopes downward. This gives an impression that it slopes all the way to the footpath. There is no indication that there is a step from the arcade to the footpath from inside the arcade.
