Technology Access Service

What is Technology Access Service?

ILC Tas Technology Access Service assists people with disabilities to use appropriate technology to:

  • Use a computer
  • Communicate
  • Control electrical appliances, such as TVs, lights, telephones

How can Technology Access Service help me?

Technology Access Service can provide:

  • Information and advice
  • Assessment
  • Trial of equipment and software
  • Training and support
  • Display of technology
  • Education sessions

Technology Access Service can visit clients throughout the North and North West of Tasmania.

What happens at Technology Access Service?

An occupational therapist and speech pathologist will work with the person with a disability and their support team.

We might look at:

  • How you sit at a computer
  • What you know about computers
  • Things you want to use the computer for
  • What equipment you already have
  • What equipment or software you might need to use
  • Your communication needs
  • The things in your home you want to operate and whether technology can help

How do we get started?

You do not need a doctor's referral to come to Technology Access Service.  Please contact us if you think we can help you.  We will get your details and make an appointment at a convenient time.

What does it cost?

Most services provided by Technology Access Service are free of charge.  In some situations there will be a fee for service.  Please contact ILC Tas for details.

Where do I buy equipment?

Technology Access Service does not sell equipment.  We can tell you where to get equipment and how much it will cost.  We can give you ideas for possible funding.
